Please note: My research into the choral music of the United Mexican States (Mexico’s formal name) is a personal journey. I am “self taught.” If you find an error or see an opportunity to expand my offerings, please respectfully let me know by emailing me at domingr@plu.edu.

Description

The document below is divided into five sections: the Tesoro volumes, mixed choir repertoire, treble repertoire, tenor-bass repertoire, and large works. The Tesoro volumes contain sacred choral works from New Spain (1521-1821, Colonial Period); you will find polyphonic works, polychoral works, masses, plenty of villancicos, and other sacred genres. Even if there is no provided accompaniment in the Tesoro repertoire, these works were realized by a continuo group and should be done so for modern performances. The given link will take you to a landing page where you can download the file at the bottom of the page.

Selections marked with an asterisk (*) are from Mapa Mundi Music. To order from their inventory, first search their catalog for the composition’s details, second, consult their price list, third, email mapamundimusic.com@gmail.com to order.

The purpose of this list is to provide access to published Mexican choral works; some repertoire can be found on CPDL and IMSLP but they are not listed here. For more repertoire by living Mexican composers, you can visit their websites to view their body of works and inquire about perusal scores.

This endeavor is an ongoing process. If you know of published repertoire that should appear on this list, please send me the information at domingr@plu.edu and I will add it.
